Caiden Fredrick is a man of many talents. He performs with the Titanium show choir, plays tight end on the varsity Titan football team, and is a school-record and state-title-holding discus thrower.

1.  How do you juggle football, show choir, and track while also being in school?

I just need to make sure that I have time when I get home from practice to be able to finish all my homework. And then, I just pay attention during school, because I usually have plenty of time during school to do it. It’s easy to make time, I’ve just got to make sure that I actually do it.

2. What does it feel like to win in one of your activities?

It’s just fun, you know? I don’t really think about winning. Obviously, that’s the goal, because it’s fun. But I try not to get it into my head, I’m just having fun. Winning is the cherry on top. It’s just a lot of fun to go out there and succeed. Winning’s the goal, and to achieve it is just fun.

3. How did you get so good at discus?

Just a lot of practice, you know? It’s not all about having strength for that sport. Form is a lot of it, and I’ve worked a lot with coaches. I just work on that. Just working on it, getting reps. The more you do it, the better you get at it.

4. What are your plans for after high school?

I’m going to go to college. I’ll be doing track and field in college, and I’m going to get a degree in criminal justice. I’m going to be a cop. I’m just going to do track and field in college. I just want to be able to protect the community and make a difference, which is my goal.

5. How do you deal with the pressure?

I don’t really feel a whole lot of pressure. I just do it to have fun. I don’t really worry about making mistakes. If I make a mistake, then I just continue on and try to get better. I try not to let that pressure get to me. I have to get out of my head as much as possible. I just relax, and that’s what I do for sports and performing arts. I just try to get relaxed and have fun.
