The TPC room might just be the busiest room in the school. The TPC room, otherwise known as the P.E. classroom, has 20 racks of weights, and 25 yards or turf. Just during the day, all 7 class periods are full of students every minute of the day. In total there are 439 students that move through the TPC every single school day.
And with all these people moving through here each day, you have to have a good method on how to get all the students through here. The way they do this is with an app that the students use on their phones that tells them what workout they are doing and how much they are doing. Also using different equipment at different times also helps get all the students through their workouts fast and efficiently. “We’re not going to have 100’s of kids that use the same equipment, that just takes forever for them to get through it. So we differentiate between if we use stability balls or dumbbells, barbells, and hex bars.”Mr. Houchin. This allows for very efficient movement within the TPC room.
And it is not just sports that use it like you might think; the NJROTC also uses this space just as much, if not more than the sports do. “ROTC is there 4 days a week before school, and 3 days a week after school.” NJROTCs program has changed completely because of the TPC room. The TPC is so helpful and unique for their program. “The turf on the floor is very useful.” it allows them a wide open space to use while practicing for competitions and sporting events.
The TPC is a very busy place, weight lifting classes, P.E. classes, sports, NJROTC and many more, all happen on a daily basis. To think that all these things happen in one room each day is hard to wrap your head around. But the Titan will continue to use this space to get better at sports and athletics, and to keep raising the bar.
