Athletes commit to compete at the college level

On Nov. 13 student athletes gathered in Titan Arena for National Letter of Intent Signing Day. Sixteen senior athletes committed to continuing their academic and athletic career at their chosen colleges. Click through the gallery below.

Charlee Solomon

Charlee Solomon, Jacksonville State University Volleyball

Solomon has been playing volleyball for 13 years and plans on studying nursing. The aspect she loves most about volleyball is, "It's a team sport that takes everyone to be able to compete. The relationship you make with your teammates is unforgettable.” She chose Jacksonville State because it not only gives the home-away-from-home feeling, but "the people there also care so much."
Amelia Congrove

Amelia Congrove, Bemidji State University Track & Field

Congrove has been running track for five years and plans on studying exercise science and a pre-physical therapist program. The aspect she loves most about track is, “The atmosphere of getting to compete against great athletes and being able to do it with my teammates." She chose Bemidji State because the school has a great track program along with the major she is interested in pursuing and overall a great campus. "I got along with my coaches well and I can tell they really care about me and my goals through my collegiate career."
Lily Sherman

Lily Sherman, Columbia University Diving

Sherman has been diving for three years and plans to major in biology to become a physician's assistant. The aspect she loves most about diving is, "My teammates and the progression- the patience it takes." She chose Columbia because of their academic prowess and location.

Kinsley Stover, Northern State University Softball

Stover has been playing softball for eight years and plans to study criminal justice and psychology. The aspect she loves most about softball is, "The fact it's a mental sport, which makes me a better person off the field." She chose Northern State because, "The facilities were amazing and the coaches were so sweet."
Shayla Warak

Shayla Warak, Northern State University Softball

Warak has been playing softball for 13 years and plans to study biology to become a nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant. The aspect she loves most about softball is the people and environment her and her team gets surrounded by. She chose Northern State because of, "The great facilities, the location not being too far away, and how much I loved the coaches."
Marley McMains

Marley McMains, College of Saint Marys Volleyball

McMains has been playing volleyball for 13 years and plans to study nursing with the intent on becoming a pediatric nurse or a NICU nurse alongside with a minor in Spanish. The aspect she loved most about volleyball is, "The families you make with your team and how you see people grow. It also pushes you beyond your limits and not only forces you to grow as an athlete but also a person." She chose College of Saint Marys, "Because of the fact it is close to home, the amazing nursing program, and the team seeming so welcoming and fun."
Grant Gilbreath (Avery Brasfield)

Grant Gilbreath, Valparaiso University Baseball

Grant has been playing baseball since he was a kid, he plans to major in business and finance. The aspects that he loves the most about baseball is "Bonding and growing with my team." The reason he chose Valparaiso College were the amazing coaches.
Bryson Bahl

Bryson Bahl, South Dakota State University Basketball

Bryson has been playing baseball for 13 years and plans to major in engineering. The aspects that he loves most about basketball is "I love the competition that comes with the sport and love the brotherhood a team can bring." He chose South Dakota State because they have good academics and a great basketball program.
Danny Wallace

Danny Wallace, Oklahoma State University Baseball

Danny has been playing baseball for 12 years and plans to major in business management. The aspects that he loves most about baseball is "I love the idea that that baseball is a team sport based off of individual performances itself." "It is the pitcher vs the hitter and whoever wins that battle more times wins the game." He chose Oklahoma State because of the great culture within the baseball program and the school itself. "The coaching staff is truly amazing and I can't wait to play for them. "As soon as I stepped on campus in Stillwater for the first time, I knew it was where I wanted to be."
Cody Cizek

Cody Cizek, Northwestern College Baseball

Cody has been playing baseball for 14 years and plans to double major in biology and exercise science, go to med school and become and orthopedic surgeon. The aspects that he loves most about baseball is "It's competing, it's fun, playing with my teammates." "It's very unique, you fail way more than you succeed and that's okay, there is always a goal to be achieved and it's a game of improvement, you can always get better and work on something." He chose this college because of good baseball. "It puts me in the best position to fulfill my future goals academically and athletically, faith involved with the school."
Blake Wilsey, NorthWest Missouri State University Baseball

Blake has been playing baseball for 14 years and plans to major in sports medicine. The aspects that he loves the most about baseball is "The relationship I build with my teammates and coaches as well as the competition." He chose NorthWest Missouri State because "It was the best fit for me and provides the best opportunity to excel both academically and athletically."
Cameron Curtis

Cameron Curtis, Hutchinson Community College Baseball

Cameron has been playing baseball for 14 years and plans to major in sports medicine. The aspects that he loves the most about baseball is competing everyday and being around his teammates. He chose Hutchinson Community College because "It was the best fit for me and it provides the best opportunities for me to continue my academic and athletic career." "I love the coaching staff and believe they will develop me into the player I want to become."
Brycen Botos

Brycen Botos, University of Nebraska Omaha Baseball

Brycen has been playing baseball for 14 years and plans to major in sports management. The aspects that he loves most about baseball is "Competing against my teammates and becoming a family with those around me." He chose UNO because "It's close to home, love the coaching staff and I feel that they will develop me into the player I want to become."
Brady Palmer

Brady Palmer, Milwaukee School of Engineering Baseball

Brady has been playing baseball for 12 years and plans to get a degree in mechanical engineering to become a mechanical engineer. The aspects that he loves the most about baseball is "I love the personal growth (mentally, socially, and physically) that you earn from it, I also love the feeling of performing to the best ability that you know you can." The reason he chose Milwaukee School of Engineering is the specific focus on his desired degree, location, sense of community, and the opportunity to play collegiate baseball.
Emmett Minderman (Avery Brasfield)

Emmett Minderman, Northeast Community College Baseball

Emmett has been playing baseball for 11 years and plans to study business. The aspects that he loves the most about baseball is "I just love going out and playing the game and enjoying time with my friends." The reason he chose Northeast Community College was "Northeast gives me the best chance to continue to play and get better, while getting an education." "Hopefully I can transfer to a 4 year to continue to play baseball."
