Trades Guest speakers

 A panel of alumni graduates from our high school have come to the school to talk to the students about their futures and their opportunities after high school, to share how they got into their positions and some qualities are needed to get into these jobs.

 The panel included Ryan Campbell who works for OPPD as a Maintenance Machinist, Taelynn Brady who is studying at Creighton University in biology psychology and Pre-med, Brian Hrbek who works in control services, Jacob Ott who is in wood specialties project installation, and Nate Myers who is a vision electrician project manager. 

One of the alumni: Ryan Campbell had talked about the loss of good work ethic skills “I really think that a lot of just good work ethic skills have been lost to time being that we have this thing called the internet we have this instant satisfaction that you get by looking something up on your phone” 

He had also talked about the importance of learning new skills as you go further in life. The panel had given the kids ideas on how to progress into their futures by talking about how they got to be in their careers. 

And how Brian Hrbek had talked about the importance of showing up when he talked about how you can “progress in life so as long as you can show up on time and have the attitude to wanna learn”

Trades Teachers Mr Stribley had communicated with the staff, and Mr Campbell had brought in the guest speakers and coordinated the panel which shows how vital they were in the formation of the panel.

The guest speakers had influenced the students such as Landen Clark who had said “It made me like the trades more, seeing how many opportunities there are and routes you can take” witch shows the impact that the speakers had on the students
